Tree
Artist-in-residence in the Meadow at Haddenham Galleries
between March and June 2005.
Funded by Arts Council England – East.
Recreating
beauty and wonder from previously discarded tree limbs and incorporating
donated tree limbs from the residents in the village of Haddenham. All
the varying sized limbs were sliced into approximately 20mm thick rings
and then fitted together jigsaw style using wire. The trunk of Inverted
Tree was transplanted into a self-seeded Ash Coppice in the Meadow at
Haddenham Galleries and I then built the branches on to the trunk in that
place. I have created her so she reaches up into the branches of the young
Ash coppice so eventually they will support each other as the Ash coppice
grows. During this growth you will hardly see Inverted Tree during the
leafy spring and summer season but it will come into its own glory during
the bare winter months.
